Q. Do you deal with the public?
A. We are a manufacturer and wholesaler, and continue to build a large dealer network. We would be happy to refer you to any of our many dealers. Please contact us so we can direct you appropriately.

Q. Do you make freestanding stairs?
A. We manufacture straight and curved freestanding stairs for customers around the world. For these, we often deal with contractors, custom home builders, and the home owners.
Q. What wood do you stock?
A. We stock hemlock, oak, maple, and poplar. We consider hemlock our paint grade material, though you can also stain it. We also produce materials in most other species upon request, including fir, jatoba (Brazillian cherry), walnut, North American cherry, mahogany, and many more.
Q. Can I open an account?
A. In order to qualify for an account, your business type and certain ongoing purchase levels are expected. Please contact us for details.
Q. What are your lead times?
A. Stock items are available immediately, and other items require 5-10 working days to produce.
Q. What railings do you carry?
A. We carry a few standard profile railings, our 2-7/8”, mushroom, crown (large and small), 2x4 and 2x6 bullnose rail, as well as a mushroom and 2-1/4” wall rail. We also carry dowelling in various diameters and can do custom rails upon request.
Q. How many spindles do I need?
A. Please check with your local building inspector, but as a rule of thumb you require 2.4 wood spindles (1-5/8") per foot, 2.8 of our 1-1/4" wood spindles, and 3 metal spindles per foot.
Q. What are the dimensions of your spindles?
A. Most of our spindles are 1-5/8” x 1-5/8”, with standard heights of 36” and 42”. Our metal spindles are ½”, 9/16” and 5/8”, heights of 43”. We also have a line of 1-1/4" wood spindles.
Q. What is SONP? USNP? RTNP?
A. These are terms used with our solid 3-1/4"x3-1/4" newel posts.

Q. How high should my railing be?
A. Railing heights vary a bit, but roughly 36” to 42” is common.
Q. How wide are your treads?
A. Standard tread widths are 36”, 42” & 48”. Anything is possible.
Q. How high are your risers?
A. Rises are generally around 7.5”, but can vary somewhat. Please check with your local building codes for minimums and maximums.
Q. What is the center to center on your adaptors & s‐bends?
A. Our standard centre to centre on these parts are 5-1/4”. Custom sizes are available.
Q. What is the difference between left and right scrolls / returns? Which one do I need?
A. Always determine handing when looking at the stairs from the bottom; so as an example, a RH scroll would be on the right side when looking at the stairs from below.
Exterior Products
Q. Will outdoor metal rust?
A. Our aluminum exterior line will not rust, though if you try to use our interior metal spindles outside, they may rust.
Q. What is the waiting time before painting pressure treated material?
A. 1 to 2 months. Stain is recommended, though if you want to paint, please first apply a sealer.
Q. Is there any other exterior rail available than the pre‐drilled rail?
A. We only carry the predrilled rail. We accept custom requests.
Q. Can I buy the 6’/ 8’ cedar rail and aluminum balusters separately?
A. Yes. Rails are per piece and balusters are 10 per carton.
Q. Do you have matching color accessories for the cedar railing system??
A. Yes. Black and Pewter knuckles and post caps are available.
Q. What is the net size of your slip over caps?
A. 4” is 3-5/8” and 6” is 5-5/8”.
Q. Do you offer oversize slip over caps?
A. Yes, in metal caps only (including solar). 4-1/8” and 6-1/8” respectively.
Q. Is all your cedar clear?
A. Yes, C & Better to D & Better cedar.
